The Year Fifteen ready new LP (Billy Duprey of The Republic of Wolves)

March 15, 2014 by Jason Gordon

The Year Fifteen, a side project of Billy Duprey from The Republic of Wolves, will be releasing his debut LP “As A World Entire” on March 23rd (which happens to be his 23rd birthday). This kid has some serious talent, so I highly recommend everyone checks this out as soon as it drops. Fans of TROW will certainly enjoy this, but he adds some additional elements to his sound that will appeal to a wide array of music lovers. I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the record and it’s phenomenal. Property of Zack recently did an exclusive on the band so check it out here for more details on the making of the album and the track listing. POZ also posted an exclusive stream of “It’s Been So Hard” off the new record that can be heard here.

These guys are the perfect blend of garage / indie pop and post punk with hints of 80s brit pop. Thief Club (Nick from Hit the Lights) preparing to release My Heavy in early 2014

January 1, 2014 by Jason Gordon

Thief Club, the latest project from Nick Thompson, lead vocalist of Hit The Lights, will release their first LP on February 4th titled My Heavy. Fans of Hit The Lights should enjoy the pop-punk leanings of Thief Club, as it still maintains the hook heavy melodic pop punk nature that Hit The Lights contained. You can pre-order the record here and listen to the new song Slow Ride on their bandcamp page along with some other previously released songs. Fans of Hit The Lights, Number One Gun, Search The City,  Anberlin and other similar acts from this genre will be more than pleased with the new music from Thief Club. Definitely a pop punk record to keep an ear out for in early 2014.

Lost Years “Traditions” LP to drop January 2014

December 24, 2013 by Jason Gordon

If you haven’t heard of Lost Years, you should probably take note. They are gearing up to release one of the first pop punk records to drop in 2014, their third LP titled “Traditions” on January 7th. If you like earlier Dangerous Summer, The Ataris, Lawrence Arms, Polar Bear Club, The Wonder Years, and gritty melodic emotional pop punk with an edge (and some occasional breakdowns and gang vocals), this is your band. It also doesn’t hurt that they know how to write a good sing along hook as well. You can check out a song from the new album on their bandcamp page where you can also pre-order the new album. While you’re at it, I highly recommend checking out their debut LP titled This Year Brought Out The Worst in Me as well. I expect to hear more about these guys in 2014.

Taxes post new single and prepare for new LP

November 24, 2013 by Jason Gordon

Many of you don’t know who Taxes are, but you should. There was a band in the late 90s called Crumb fronted by Robby Cronholm. The album featured guest appearances from Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World, Blair Shehan of Knapsack, The Jealous Sound, and many others. The album was called Seconds, Minutes, Hours and was on par with albums like Clarity and others that came out around the same time. Emotive, Layered, Melodic, Driving, Guitar based Indie Rock/Pop with ridiculously catchy choruses. Lucky for us, the singer is back with his relatively newer band called Taxes, and they are preparing to unleash their new LP titled “It Never Ends”. There is still no release date but in the meantime, check out this new jam called mid-season replacement. I get a late 90s Jimmy Eat World vibe from it and it rules. You can also check out their last EP “It’s Always Something” to hold you over.
